Essa at Midtown Auto Repair really helped us out! My girlfriend and I came to Queens to see a concert. She drove her 2017 Nissan Rogue down from upstate and, as soon as we got to Queens, her transmission went into “limp mode”. We were able to get it to the shop and Essa worked with his team to make sure it was fixed quickly and for a reasonable price! So far, so good, and we’re incredibly grateful!

I called them at 6.30pm after putting gas in a diesel truck. They immediately sent a tow truck, emptied out the tank and got me back on the road by 8.15pm. They were very reasonably priced and everyone was so courteous and professional. The gentleman got me signed in and out the door in record time and the owner took the time to explain the process and put my mind at ease as this is my work truck. They also went above and beyond in their service and replaced a taillight I had in the truck for 6 months and repaired a flat tire in my car all in 90 mins. I will be using midtown for all my auto needs moving forward. Also they have a large clean space with a comfortable waiting area for customers. Definitely a 5 star experience

This is a follow-up to my previous review, and once again Midtown Center Auto Repair exceeded all expectations. This time, I brought my car in for body work, and Mike and Essa were absolutely phenomenal. They were super professional from start to finish—fair in their pricing, courteous in their service, and transparent about everything. Before starting, they provided a fully itemized estimate, ordered all the parts in advance, and scheduled the repair efficiently to minimize downtime, which I really appreciate since I depend on my car for work. Their level of organization and expertise is impressive—they run a tight ship and truly know everything, not just about mechanical issues but body work as well. I have a Tesla, and many shops can’t handle them properly, but they did so with ease and precision. When I picked up my car, it was beautifully detailed, with the tires checked and pressure adjusted, and they even performed a full inspection before handing it back. They went above and beyond, touching up and compounding a few minor areas I hadn’t even noticed. Mike even took the initiative to order the aftermarket parts I had planned to buy myself, just to save me the trouble. That kind of thoughtfulness and customer care is rare. The entire experience reinforced why I’ve trusted them for years—Midtown Center Auto Repair is simply outstanding in every way. Very unprofessional experience. My car originally could not start because the battery had died. Instead of even attempting a proper jump start or thoroughly checking detailed fault codes first, the shop quickly diagnosed the issue as the alternator and verbally assured me that replacing the alternator would definitely solve the problem. The manager sounded extremely confident and kept talking as if they fully understood the issue, but during the repair process he was literally asking his own workers what to do and how to proceed. The entire process felt disorganized and unprofessional. After replacing the alternator, the car was STILL not fixed. The vehicle continued showing ABS malfunction warnings, engine fault warnings, and multiple error codes. At that point, instead of solving the issue, they suddenly claimed the car needed even more diagnostics and even more money. What shocked me most was that they then tried to tell me the car was “good to drive.” I specifically asked them about all the warning lights and fault codes still showing on the dashboard, and they told me it “would not affect driving” and that “the car would not stall anymore because it is charging now.” In the end, I spent around $1200 and the original problem was never actually fixed. The car still could not be trusted to drive safely, and I eventually had to pay for another tow truck just to move the vehicle from this shop to a different repair shop for a second opinion. Another major issue was payment. The shop publicly displays that they accept major credit cards, but when I attempted to pay by credit card, they insisted on cash only. During the dispute, they openly stated in front of police officers that they did not want me paying by credit card because they were worried I might dispute the charge afterward. That honestly raised even more concerns for me. If the repair work and charges were truly reasonable and properly handled, why be afraid of a customer using a normal protected payment method like a credit card? The entire experience felt rushed, poorly diagnosed, extremely inconsistent, and very untrustworthy. They seemed very confident when taking the money, but once the repair did not work, the customer was expected to absorb all the cost and consequences. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to major repairs here, especially for electrical or charging system issues. UPDATE: The shop’s public response does not accurately reflect what happened. I have already filed complaints with multiple agencies, including the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, the New York Attorney General’s Consumer Frauds Bureau, the Better Business Bureau, and additional consumer protection channels. I stand by my original review. Customers deserve transparency, honest diagnostics, fair pricing, and safe repair practices. Honest businesses do not pressure customers, make guarantees they cannot keep, change prices midway through the process, insist on cash payments to avoid disputes, or ask customers to drive away in vehicles that are still unsafe and showing serious warning lights. I am clearly not the first customer to report concerns about this business, and unfortunately probably will not be the last. I simply hope other consumers do their research carefully before trusting this shop with their vehicle.

Hello people, becareful going there for a car inspection. They scammed and failed my inspection test after I refused to change the tire on the spot. There is a black guy tries to scam me telling me I have to change all the tires which I really doubt about it. He was telling me my tires can blow anytime and tried to charged me $1100 for three tires and also telling me they was a leaked underneath my car and another $280 to fix if. . Wow unbelievable. Just went there for inspection and almost ripped $1400. I also got ticket coz my inspection date was expired on that day coz they failed my inspection purposely. Plus paid $38 for failed inspection and I tipped the guy too. Went for an another location for inspection and the repair guy was very professional and he said my car is totally fine no need to do anything and passed my inspection. Not sure they don’t want any customer in future.
